1/5 stars
Fifty Words for Rain, by Asha Lemmie (2020)
UGH. I'm so angry right now! Though it had it's flaws, I enjoyed this book... right up until the final 20 pages (out of approx. 450), which I really hated. And now I don't know what to write.
The ending was ridiculous and utterly pointless, and negated basically everything the main character had gone through to get to that point. Which was a lot, mind you, because she was put through every trauma imaginable - seemingly for the purposes of character development, but in the end... I guess just for the sake of drama? If you'd asked me this morning I would have said "I'm gonna give this book 3 stars," which is pretty high, for me. And now here we are.
I don't really want to spend any more time on this, so... in short, I don't recommend it. And I can't wait to palate-cleanse with something else!
